How to Fix "Manager Approval Failed: Manager PIN was wrong"

What This Means

This error appears when an action—such as adding or modifying a tip above a certain threshold—requires manager authorization, but the entered PIN does not match any active manager or supervisor profile in the system. It typically indicates a simple typo during entry, a recently updated or deactivated PIN, or a staff member attempting to use a user account that lacks manager-level permissions.

How to Fix It

Follow these steps to successfully authorize the tip:

  1. Re-enter the PIN carefully: Click to retry and ask the manager to re-enter their numeric PIN, double-checking for accidental typos or double-taps on the keypad.
  2. Verify Manager Privileges: Ensure the person entering the PIN is logged into an account assigned an active Manager or Admin role with permission to approve custom tip adjustments.
  3. Check Caps Lock or Keypad Settings: If you are using an external hardware keyboard or touch screen, ensure the numpad is active and no incorrect key configurations are affecting the input.
  4. Reset or Update the Manager PIN: If the PIN continues to fail, a system administrator must log into the back-office dashboard, navigate to User Management, and verify or reset the manager's security PIN.
