Items Not Displaying on KDS Error
What This Means
This issue occurs when prepared or ordered items fail to appear on the Kitchen Display System (KDS) screen after being placed. Based on system parameters, this behavior is typically caused by an uninitialized or unfired ticket session at the POS level, backend category or printer routing misconfigurations on the dashboard, a communication breakdown across network subnets, an unselected preparation line, or a hardware freeze.
How to Fix It
Step 1: Confirm Ticket Initialization
- Confirm that the ticket was successfully initialized and fired from the originating POS terminal.
Step 2: Audit Dashboard Settings
- Check your dashboard configurations to ensure the missing items are assigned to the correct kitchen category or printer group.
Step 3: Power Cycle the KDS Hardware
- Perform a manual refresh or a complete power-cycle restart on the physical KDS tablet hardware to clear frozen states.
Step 4: Verify Network Subnet Communication
- Verify active network handshakes between the primary POS network subnet and the KDS client device.
Step 5: Verify Active Preparation Lines
- Open the KDS options menu by tapping the three dots icon, choose Select Stations, and verify that the required preparation lines are actively checked.
Still Need Help?
